The Fair!

I went to the fair just so I could get back into doing some artistic type work. It rained off and on, so my trip was short but I did manage to get some ok shots.

Liberty Enlightening the World (Statue of Liberty)

My first graphic drawing on a computer

I was looking through some old files on my back up disc when I came across this. I made this about five or six years ago. I like to pretend that I'm better now.

HDR (high dynamic range)

I played with HDR today and found that I could spend way too many hours making it look how I best liked the image to be. Here is an image from my time in Spain.

LPGA

Another year at the LPGA here in Mobile. I could only cover half of the week because I had a previously scheduled event for the finals.

A horse is a horse of course, of course

This was taken a couple of weeks ago and I have been so busy with work and life that it is getting difficult to keep up with the blog thing. The first picture is just off the cuff stuff (not planned.) The second picture is more what I was looking for.

Its been a long time since I rock n' roll

Yes, it has been a long time and I knew that eventually I would become so busy that I could not keep up. If work isn't keeping me busy then my wife is and if my wife isn't keeping me busy then my daughter is. I still managed to get a day of "leisure shooting," and the above photo is a result.

Crazy Busy!

Of course being busy is a good thing but creative juices can't flow when you are too busy. Some people were built for busy and some for not so busy. I am definitely one that needs several breaks in between. An important note: I work fast as heck when I'm not on break which in my opinion makes up for the extra down time. I am not usually one for words in my post but this week has been so busy that it will have to do. I will try to catch up some this weekend.

Exhibition!

Sorry folks, we've been really busy lately with soccer. I have two pictures that have been accepted to a local show here in Mobile. Since I missed yesterday I am posting both photos today. More details on the show to follow. As usual your comments are welcome.

Fathers Day 2009

It was the hottest day ever and my wife took the kids and I kayaking. I hope this year it is not too hot because I really like the idea of kayaking with the family but the heat really got to me. We did see several alligators and the girls really freaked out. My daughter thought she might be eaten and my son and I wanted to get closer.

More Soccer!

My beautiful daughter makes the sport look so romantic when in actuality soccer is somewhat brutal. But then romance can be brutal too.

The Show!

While we were in Branson MO. a couple of years ago we went on the Branson Bell and caught the show.

Because of his vast knowledge, everyone depends on the "old guys" safety and operating instructions.

Helicopter Ride

A couple of years ago I got an opportunity to take my daughter on a helicopter ride in trade for some freelance work. Her face says it all and I thought it was so cool to be able to create this memory together.

More Atlanta

Atlanta has several opportunities for photography. I would like to spend more time shooting there.

Still the soccer thing

I really love watching this sport. If I lived where there was pro soccer I would definitely go see them play.

Football?

Thats right! USA football is gearing up again and I hope I can get lots of great photographs.

Underwater Wife

We went on an awesome canoe ride while we were in Florida last year. This is a picture of my wife from underwater. I got this cool bag that my camera fits into so I can take underwater photos without the expensive housings that are out there.

I took this picture in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Eureka has an old train station that serves as a museum.

Mobile Ballet

I went to the ballet (Sleeping Beauty) today and took some shots. I had to use a very high ISO but I still got some shots that I liked.

Football

This is what football is really like. Split second decisions and speed. I played this sport as a young man in H.S. and some in a Semi-Pro German league. Shooting images like these brings back memories that I hope I will never forget.

Laptop

I got my laptop back today after the logic board went out and thankfully I had a warranty that covered it. But I didn't have all my photos backed up. I might have lost pictures like this one (one of my favorite pictures.)

Starting back today!

Mondays are for new starts and here is yet another start. I made a stamp today, I took an old drawing and transfered it to moo carve material and began cutting. You may recognize my drawing from an old logo design that I did while I was in school.

Darn it! I just got busy.

And then lazy! This isn't from today but it will help get me back on the picture a day theme. This was taken this past fall in Decatur Alabama. I really liked this place because of the old time feel that it had and I would love to visit again.

We love soccer!

Five games in 24 hours and my daughter was in no mood for pictures. Needless to say, I have a ton of pictures from this weekend and because we were so busy I didn't get a chance to post anything on Friday or Saturday. This one is for Friday even though I took it on Saturday.

Seagulls and Museums

I went to the Art Museum today and renewed my inspiration. Sometimes I over think things and that just makes things complicated. Part of the new exhibition has a piece by one of my all time favorite artists, Chuck Close. Of course, the security person wouldn't let me take a picture so you'll just have to go see it yourself.

Mardi Gras in Mobile Alabama

Mobile boasts that it is the home of Mardi Gras. You would think that with all that experience they could direct the traffic so that I could find my way out of there. Here is a picture of Mardi Gras colors and the balcony rails. For me this sums Mardi Gras up. 

It peels, it cores and it slices!

I gave my wife an apple peeler for Christmas and she uses it every night. Every now and then I actually get a gift that she absolutely loves. Of course I had to put an artistic spin (pun intended) on the whole operation.

Fire

One of the funnest things about having a wooded lot and living in the country! FIRE! Remember, Saturdays are Archive days. This picture was taken this summer.

It's Snowing in Mobile!

For the first time since I've lived here it is snowing! BB and the dogs are loving it. I, of course have seen better.

My workspace

I've been staring at my computer all day. So I took a much needed break and watched Survivor. Editing can be the most tedious job, tomorrow I start all over again.

Today I had a job of great interest to me. It ended up being a very pleasant job (aside from all the stairs.) Anyway, I got to photograph the Chilean Navy accepting a former U.S. Naval Ship. Pencil

If I were a pencil, my eraser would be worn out. I would pray that God would bite on the metal part to squeeze more eraser out.

Faith JV soccer vs. Alma Bryant JV

Faith JV kicked off the regular season today with with a loss to Alma Bryant. Bronwynn starts Varsity tomorrow and I couldn't be prouder. GO RAMS! and GO BRONWYNN!

Saturday is Archive Day!

I think it would be nice if I had one day a week that I posted an older photo that I like, so Saturday is the day. Of course, feedback is always appreciated and this way I can tell who actually reads my blog. Oh, and when I say older, I don't mean old people. hahahaha!

Rain again, but no flooding yet.

I do live in Mobile Alabama and for those of you who don't know Mobile is the number one city in rainfall with only one competitor, Seattle. We beat Seattle in rain and sunshine most of the time. Which can only mean that our raindrops are bigger! hahaha

What lies beneath a manhole cover?

A city employee came to clean out the debris in the manhole that is causing our flooding problems. When he flipped the lid over this was what I saw. Thankfully the roaches live under the lid and not in my house. When I saw this I thought of Hawaii; I know, I know, but I used to live in Hawaii and I can tell you that the roaches are insane!

Our dogs are the best! Our neighbors dogs bark all day and all night but not our dogs! Ann is the momma, Abbie (on the left) is one of Ann's puppies.

Saturday!

High School soccer season begins soon and our girl had a jamboree this weekend. So, of course it is a picture of her playing soccer. BB is the one in white and it looks like the girl in black stepped on her foot.

Clogged pipes!

Today's picture is one of great disappointment. Those of you who are my facebook friends know that a couple weeks ago my home flooded and I posted an awesome picture of the water cascading off of my retaining wall. The above picture is the reason why; the disappointing part is that we have flash flood warnings for today and the City of Mobile won't have this cleaned out before it rains.
